When Opie’s on the Case
With soft and long, floppy ears
and the sweetest eyes of brown,
criminals better watch themselves
when Opie comes to town.
Usually when someone’s lost,
they’ll bring a trained bloodhound,
but Opie just might be the first
to track narcotics down.
Opie has the best sniffer
of all the counties round;
with his long paw of the law,
narcotics will be found.
All the kids adore him,
when Opie comes to school.
They all beg for one more pet
because they think he’s cool.
Opie and his handler Bradley
are a duo most dynamic,
and when those pushers see them coming,
they cause the utmost panic.
The Chief Deputy and Sheriff
beam at the team with pride.
They know that Opie and Bradley
are perfect side-by-side.
So don’t try to run and hide,
swift justice you will face.
These boys always get their man,
when Opie’s on the case.
Logan
“Little Hollow’ the Scots might say;
Quiet and hidden, a protected place.
Full of solitude and an easy,
steady grace.
“Friendly and intelligent” the Irish may claim,
I say yes to this bright-sounding name;
Once used for boys,
but today there is no shame.
“Wolverine” is hailed as strong,
as known by today’s movie-going throng.
She protects my heart,
and is sweet as a song.
Shiny onyx and golden fur,
she holds me in her paws for sure,
along with her brilliant eyes
so loving and pure.
*Special thanks to Hurricane Creek K9 not only for all that they do,
but also for bringing this incredible companion into my life.
